Young Chopin

The International Piano Competition for Children and Youth, Montreux ? Riviera,

The Young Chopin competition in Montreux, Switzerland aims to discover and support young pianists dedicated to the interpretation of the great Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin. It gives participants the opportunity to develop their careers and prepare for the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Chopin Institute in Switzerland, an initiator and founder of the idea, invited Chopin's greatest interpreters and specialists: Ewa Poblocka, Akiko Ebi and Piotr Paleczny, who are also jury members of the grand competition in Warsaw.
For Magdalena Hirsz ? the president of the Institute and the creator of the project, Chopin's music is universal. Therefore, the idea of the competition reflects her particular commitment to promoting young pianists in favour of Chopin?s music. On the sidelines of this competition, several musical activities are planned: jury members' concerts, interactive educational concerts for children in public schools, ?Rocking Chopin? project and many other workshops.
The contest aims to highlight the work of Chopin by establishing a special link between the young audience and young performers. Young pianists from around the world will help to change the approach to classical music of youth in Switzerland and will create an international meeting place in the Riviera region.
