Chopin Sing and Swing
Chopin?s themes taken from pieces written originally for piano solo and from his songs for voice with piano will be the main thread of the program and will be performed in both duo and trio formation with a fabulous, in Montreux awarded young Jazz singer Yumi Ito and excellent bass player Thomas Dürst, professor of the Swiss Jazz School at the University of Arts Berne.
The originator of the idea, Pawel Mazurkiewicz, an excellent classical and jazz pianist, has been arranged the works of his favorite composer Chopin for the Classic Goes Jazz since 2007. His passion for jazz brought to the daylight a new combination of classical and jazz music: the transcriptions are taking roots from the famous Chopin pieces and using rhythms and syncopations of jazz and Latin American music. The written arrangements can?t leave the listener indifferent by producing almost physical electric voltage between those opposites.
