Salon ? la Chopin

More than a different setting, it is the intimacy of the living room that constitutes the ideal situation for Chopin's fulfillment of his art.

The Polish composer did not like to perform in concert halls, for him the best place to share his art was amongst his close friends.

As soon as he entered the designated salon, he was immediately asked to perform one of his new compositions or to improvise, usually on a theme put forward by the public. His piano playing, extremely refined, made a great impression on the audience as we can read about his performances expressed in the letters and diaries of those who frequented the salons of Warsaw and Paris. Saturday, June 20th: The Frederic Chopin Institute launches a new project "Salon ? la Chopin".
