Lyda Chen-Argerich

Born in Geneva, Lyda Chen-Argerich is the eldest daughter of piano-diva Martha Argerich. She studied the violin at Geneva Conservatory with Ayla Erduran, then with Professor Lin Yao Ji at the Central Conservatory from Beijing. She pursued an academic course and obtained a law degree at the University of Geneva. A few musical encounters with her mother led her to perform in various chamber music formations in many festivals, such as Verbier, La Roque d'Anthéron, the Folles Journées and playing alongside artists such as Ivry Gitlis, Mischa Maisky, Gabriela Montero. She performed among others at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, at the Teatro Colon, at the Salle Pleyel, and played as a soloist at the Tonhalle of Zürich, at the Teatro del Circulo Rosario. She was invited to give masterclasses in Spain, France, South America and to conduct ensembles and orchestras in China and France.
