Trio Chopin - Sion

The Chopin Trio have been created by three talented, passionate and experienced Polish musicians: Marek Dumicz (violin), Maciej Lacny (cello) and Magdalena Hirsz (piano) all graduated from the prestigious conservatories in Warsaw, Geneva, Hanover and Krakow.

Formed in Warsaw in 2018, as a name of their ensamble trio have taken the surname of the greatest Polish composer, Frédéric Chopin, who is also an important emblem of their alma mater. The ensemble is part of the project "Young Chopin" www.jeunechopin.com - International Piano Competition for Young Performers in Switzerland and aims to promote the repertoire of classical music especially for young audiences.

During their performances, the artists interact with a remarkable lightness associated with the complete mastery of their repertoire that makes their music a pure sound experience. Over the past year, the Trio has managed to build an impressive, large-scale repertoire that not only contains basic classical works, but also demonstrates a determined and meticulous exploratory spirit. The Chopin trio plays contemporary composers as well as popular pop and rock music to arouse the interest of the general public.

Marek Dumicz

Contemporary Polish violinist, chamber musician and teacher. He studied at the conservatory of Warsaw and Hanover. Founder and first violin of the Szymanowski quartet for eleven years. Winner of many prestigious violin competitions, including Dimitri Shostakovich's Classica Nova In Memorial in Hannover, Victorio Gui Prize in Florence, Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne, Chamber Music Competition and Festa in Osaka etc. He was also professor of chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik Hannover for 10 years. His 9 albums are published by BBC Records, Avie Records and Produccion Blau. He cooperated with authorities such as Izaak Stern, Hatto Beyerle and Walter Levin, among others. He has performed at various festivals such as BBC Proms, Locenhaus Kammermusikfestival, Davos and the most prestigious venues in the world: Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Osaka Izumi Hall, Melbourne Concert Hall, Wigmor Hall London

Magdalena Hirsz

Polish pianist with Asian roots. She charms the audience with her musicality and sensitivity. She has performed in numerous international festivals including Musical September, Lourmarin, Evian, Tel Aviv. In addition, she has participated in many interactive projects, such as the Béjart Ballet or the poet David Walters. Magdalena studied at conservatories in Geneva, Warsaw, Vienna and Lodz. Her repertoire includes an eclectic mix of classical and contemporary music. She recorded two solo albums including one with R. Schumann and an album entitled "Sounds of Mind". In addition, the pianist is developing her career as a teacher: she has taught piano and chamber music at the F. Chopin Conservatory in Warsaw, at the International Institute of Lancy in Geneva, at St. George's School in Montreux and now at the F. Chopin Institute in Switzerland, of which she is president at the moment. She is also the founder and director of the "Winter Piano Festival" (2009 -2011) and the Chopin contest for children in Switzerland, www.jeunechopin.com

Maciej Lacny

Polish cellist who have lived in South Africa for the last ten years. Chamber music artist, teacher and soloist. He began his career at the age of 19 as a cellist on the Krakow Symphony Orchestra Radio. He later became the first cellist of the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he has performed in Europe and Asia. He has also given concerts with renowned orchestras and ensembles, such as Johannesburg Philharmonic orchestra or Sinfonietta Cracovia. He played in the biggest halls, such as Shanghai Concert Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, Oslo Concert Hall. In South Africa he created very popular piano trio "The Wits Trio" with Malcolm Nay and Zanta Hofmeyr and they?ve been representing the University of the Witwatersrand on the continent.
